He was referencing a star wars quote in english

I tried to reference it first. :) Then, I referenced Laibach song "Surfing Through the Galaxy" from IronSky2.

he was not correcting your grammar.

It's not about grammar, the sense was wrong. "to be afraid of" ("to be in fear from") looks more suitable here than "to be afraid for" ("to care for")
