haha. But you know, in years of LinkedIn all it ever got me was endless 'friend' requests from ambitious H1Bs seeking to progress in the US, and lots of spam.

I'm sure it is region dependent, I'm in the UK. And I enjoy keeping tabs on my various work and University contacts without a personal social account elsewhere.

The virtue signalling I find the worst though, because I want to post with my own opinion - if it wasn't for the professional suicide.
