Typhoid Mary disagrees with you.
Having written the above, people like Typhoid Mary are relatively rare - about one to six percent who were infected with the Salmonella Typhi bacteria that caused Typhoid didn't get the disease or show symptoms.
In other words, asymptomatic spread is the exception, not the rule.
Typhoid is not a virus. A virus grows within a cell in your body, to get out to infect others, it has to explode that cell. That causes inflammation as the immune system is alerted. That's your symptom. Can you spread it in the hour or so before enough cells explode to make you both infectious to others and symptomatic? Maybe, but the odds are small.
Typhoid bacteria live between the cells, get excreted, and with lack of handwashing by the cook (Typhoid Mary was a cook) the whole family gets typhoid, while Mary feels nothing. To Mary, it was just an asymptomatic parasite.
Thank you for the clarification! Much appreciated!
I'm not saying asymptomatic spread doesn't exist. I'm saying there is no evidence to suggest asymptomatic spread with covid.
Thanks for clarifying. Very much appreciated!
