There is some discussion that Scottish Gaelic may be related to Arabic -- may have started out as an Afro-Asiatic language. That would have to include Irish Gaelic as well.
This would be in line with the Scots' belief that they originated in Egypt and left in around 1360-1330 BC. I might have the dates wrong.
