I said the same thing in a conversation with someone yesterday. I live in the bluest of all areas, and everyone acts like we just went through a war and are emerging out into the scary world while trying to coexist with the virus. Every day of the past year they spent worrying about getting it, or who would get it, or if it’d come back. They were all in on it. I really wish I could believe the crap they do. All the news and all else is entirely in line with their point of view. It probably feels nice to have been fooled.
My past year’s been a mix of “Are people still doing this shit?” and annoyance. One of the guys I know has started to yell at people wearing a mask on the street. I’m not even against masks or a republican. It’s very clear how this has been handled’s all been a giant sick joke though.
To be clear, I think Covid-19’s real. I also think it’s been 99.99% overblown for the majority of the population, and the methods to deal with it are far worse and will be for far longer than the virus itself.
