The folks at CNN are NOT journalists - they do exactly what they are paid to do: present propaganda.

I think you are ignoring who OWNS “the governments” - buying a politician is apparently cheap. Smart overlords would purchase politicians, who then control which laws are made or enforced, with ownership of propaganda outlets creating fake compliance (as in, “we are all doing this because it is OUTRAGEOUS not to do so”).
Large corporations are run by a handful of people who use middle management to make things happen, while the workers just do what they are told. It is a simple philosophy - your paycheck is dependent on your compliance. Integrity is expensive.
There is no governments. There are the rew familys who run the world. It's pretty obvious to some and impossible to see for others.
