In his second year at Harvard, Kaczynski participated in a study described by author Alston Chase as a "purposely brutalizing psychological experiment" led by Harvard psychologist Henry Murray. Subjects were told they would debate personal philosophy with a fellow student and were asked to write essays detailing their personal beliefs and aspirations. The essays were turned over to an anonymous individual who would confront and belittle the subject in what Murray himself called "vehement, sweeping, and personally abusive" attacks, using the content of the essays as ammunition.[24] Electrodes monitored the subject's physiological reactions. These encounters were filmed, and subjects' expressions of anger and rage were later played back to them repeatedly.[24] The experiment lasted three years, with someone verbally abusing and humiliating Kaczynski each week.[25][26] Kaczynski spent 200 hours as part of the study.[27]
Round 1 - Harvard Students.
Round 2 - Facebook is:
(a) Acting as a diary and data logger using a persons likes, posts, groups, locations, private messages, and photos one could effectively infer the personal philosophy of an individual.
(b) Using those like and the knowledge of the persons philosophy, one could design the system to show opposing views/divisive content.
(c) The system could then track & log interactions and responses in a database. Those logs could be categorized at least in abstraction. Similar types of categories of people and interactions could be documented as scores ranking similarity levels.
(c) Using an echo chamber algorithm, one could essentially automate the process of playing back the persons own responses to the abusive language.
It would be milder than the experiments Ted was subjected to. Perhaps they used those experiments to test the limits. Perhaps it was determined that the echo back was a strong way of controlling many people without causing them to go insane so long as they didn’t overdo it. What i’m trying to suggest here is that with Ted and other experiments done under Mk ultra program, the kinks were worked out and now we have social media echo chambers that effectively control large populations and keep them divided, distracted, and mostly directed as needed.
