Good reply. No, thankfully, not in our region. We had a problem with rut deer, so the wild life agents allowed us a pass to thin the herds.
Other than that our Whitetail deer population is healthy. I put six in the deep freezer annually.
We eat mostly deer, feral hog, and rabbit.

What are the feral hogs like? I've heard everything from 'more flavorful' to 'too gamey to eat'. Do they make a good bacon?
Tasty! Need to soak in salt water fo 24 hours to take the gamey taste out. It also tenderizes the meat. Lean meat with very little fat.
Makes for great bacon, minus the fat.
90% of our meat consumption is wild game. Aim small, miss small.
Sounds great to have that option. I just have a few raccoons, a squirrel, and a cat that come through here, so I pretty much stick to store meat.
