Right, from what I understand in past communist revolutions, like the soviet union, the lowest class workers and generally dumb people were the most willing to lash out and oppress others. I think there's a lot of deep psychology to this but basically it has something to do with them being incredibly dumb and also having felt powerless most of their lives so they take the opportunity to be "in charge" and oppress those "above" them.
Stanford Prison Experiment. The guards become the inmates and the inmates becomes the guards. What happens. Guillotines. Human nature has as much capacity to inflict pain as it does remorse. Infact with every human when there are no checks and balances they can succumb to pure evil from simple peer pressure or from survival of flight or fight and many other psychological mechanisms like trauma or vengeance. It doesn't matter what that intelligence is. There is a beast in all of us waiting to be provoked into doing the unspeakable and once nurtured hell awakens.
Obviously it can be blamed on circumstances or coercion or a host of other issues, but the fact is there is often a monster in all of us.
It is true once people have nothing left to lose they will often kill. When people think there is more to gain they will often kill.
However it doesn't mean to say that most of us don't have self control, principles, morals, and dignity. We were talking environmental extremes. A lack of balance creating monsters. The gutter breeding mutants evolving into psychos. A life so privileged it doesn't care who it hurts. Lust that craves nothing stops its desires. Trauma so broken it will only hurt. Anger causing wrath. Of course today there is this little shrink that comes out guessing, it is because you speak very aggressively that you are very violent, because you are very cheater you are very beater, you are very dumb you are very killer, it is because they play video games this is why they are psychos. Wrongfully little shrink needs somebody else to blame so the patient can recover.
