I'm originally from the west coast and was there for parts of this past summer from hell, I've generally noticed a big focus on race there for at least the last 5 years, I never paid much attention before I guess. Everyone there is tense now constantly in public after all the covid crap and race riots in bigger cities last year. I've also been traveling in the southeast though and generally people seem to get along better and there's less tension. I can't help but wonder if basically the south was forced to deal with the racial issues and face them head on before but regions that never really had segregation maybe never had that boiling point moment that forced them to figure it out. Curious if anyone thinks this is off base though too based on your experience as I'm not from the south so I'm not an expert on it.
