Pretty fucking simple. Every civilization and race across the globe has enslaved others or their own, since the Dawn of time. Thomas Sowell has some great thoughts and research on the topic in his books, which dispel current literature on the topic which was been a rewriting of the topic of slavery. Most would like to believe white settlers sailed their boats to Africa, came ashore and captured people and brought them back as slaves. This isn’t true at all. In fact the movie Roots was a lie and even the writer said it was. For one they’d have been slaughtered by African tribes and two they would die of viral diseases. Yes, slaves were bought and enslaved, but not because they were sought out, but because they were offered as cheap labor. Many of the writers in early slavery have stated they wanted to give black people something to believe vs being enslaved by their own race. Africa is a nation of tribes and these people bought and sold each other, as did racial groups in the Middle East and Europe.
The British and US governments were the first to realize its negatives because of their religious beliefs (Christianity) and stomped it out in a very short order vs the length of time global slavery had transpired, quicker than any other group of people. Many of these same area still practice slavery to this day, but in Europe and North America we do not (unless you consider low wages at a large corporation slavery).
Yeah, maybe the word “first” is better changed to “eager.” Or simply of a religious conviction to stomp it out faster than any other group in history.
Why don’t you call Thomas Sowell and ask him? He seems to be more intelligent or educated on the matter than I. I’m sure he has an email as well. Report back when you get an answer.
No just because one single culture decided to abandoned it doesn't mean they abolished it. The United States and Britain were the first countries to go around the world and force/convinced other countries to end slavery.

Yeah, no.
Abolishment of slavery goes back to centuries b.c.
Why are people always trying to make the world revolve around their own culture?
