They say Cheifs, Indians, Braves, etc are racist and offensive. Throw the Pirates or buccaneers out there as a counter.
Like the title says, white Europeans were enslaved for centuries by groups like the Barbary Pirates...MUSLIMS from the northern coast of Africa.
Being a white Christian, I demand they fight for my feelings and denounce teams named after Pirates.
If I want to get real silly, I’ll tell them my grandfather was killed by a Trolley and tell them the Dodgers (Trolley Dodgers) should take into account all the persons killed by trolleys.
Sometimes it’ll click and they realize there is actually a slippery slope. Sometimes, but rare.
I just replied to another person about how my point was not being technically accurate, but more to show that EVERYTHING can be considered offensive and leads us down a road (that we’re already on) where nothing is appropriate.
Don’t like Redskins? Well better call them Washington Football club. Wait Washington was named after a slave owner? How dare you.

The point, which you so clearly missed, is that we shouldn’t look to correct every offensive action in the world made by people who are long dead. It leads to a road where nothing is allowed bc pretty much everything is offensive to someone.
