Three significant things happened today on Tuesday Jan. 12:
First, the state department cancelled Mike Pompeo's plan to visit Europe this week, which was well alive and active until the end of yesterday.
Second, Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of Homeland Security, stepped down, which he announced at the end of yesterday.
And third, Mark Milley, the Chairman of the JCS, broke a week of silence regarding the Jan. 06 incident, via the letter signed with the other seven top military officers.
Reuter said "U.S. officials said Milley had not commented on last week’s events because he wanted to stay out of politics." [LINK]
About the third point,
it seems almost all the media outlets have confirmed the letter with their own (& anonymous) US official sources,
however, no outlet seems to have contacted the office of JCS in order to get the story checked.
Usually in this kind of case, you contact the office of the Joint Staff spokesperson Col. Dave Butler. Meaning, no outlet seems to have contacted Col. Dave Butler today.
Maybe it's just they couldn't get hold of the office.
Today, the office of Col. Butler provided the so called readout of Gen. Milley's video conference with Canadian counterpart. And that was about it. Nothing about said letter.
Edited to Add:
TL;DR -- To be featured on the news page of the JCS website, the office of Col. Butler should have officially released it. When journalists got some official information or news but they don't see it on said page, they contact the office of Col. Butler to confirm. However, it seems no outlet seems to have done it for this letter. Or they have tried it but couldn't get hold of the office.
By the way,
have you guys lately seen or heard about Mr. Barack Obama?
Since our lady Nancy was also absent since this Monday (she has surfaced late in this afternoon, I heard?), I was checking around (?) about the usual players who the italy gate may concern.
But all I could confirm was that several people in the familiar circles (meaning their job is something related to political communications or public relations in DC) haven't seen him since the last week. Maybe he's in Massachusetts now but they said the weather there is not that great in January. :p
You're saying how come that kind of important + official message isn't on the news page, right?
To be honest, I don't know. ^^'
People say there could have been some kind of miscommunication between the JCS office and the JS spokesperson's office, which I doubt because Gen. Mark Milley is quite infamous for being a meticulous control freak.

?
Italygate?
Yea, that's the implication.

It could mean anything, I guess.
I wonder if this butler is related to smedley
That's actually an interesting question. I'll look into it when I can.
This is really interesting.
so what's currently on jcs.mil is not that?
