Now they are saying that "herd immunity doesn't work". I will remind you that the basis of vaccination is the principle of herd immunity. We "defeated smallpox" on the planet through vaccination. No one who is NOT vaccinated with smallpox has to worry about smallpox

This is just made up though.

Nobody is saying that "herd immunity doesn't work", people have just been trying to avoid conflating herd immunity as achieved through mass infection with herd immunity as achieved through mass immunization.

People who are vaccinated STILL have to worry about smallpox, so do people who aren't. That's because the vaccine doesn't always work, its effective rate is below 100% so in order to completely irradicate smallpox a very high percentage of the population needs to get the vaccine. That way, even though it can hypothetically still infect some both vaccinated and especially unvaccinated, the population that could be potentially infected isn't large enough to maintain an outbreak, and it slowly dies out (until recently when people stopped getting vaccinated lmao).

Remember when they said "we don't want your unvaccinated kid to go to our school.." Why? Why would they worry if their own kids are vaccinated?

Because, the vaccine isn't 100% effective. Again, if enough unvaccinated people and people whose vaccine didn't take congregate there can be an outbreak, and again even THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN VACCINATED, would be susceptible

Now the WHO and CDC are saying herd immunity won't be achieved through vaccinations.

Again, they've never argued that. What are you quoting?
