Officer Brian Sicknick died on the 7th. There have been conflicting accounts of why or how he died. He is said to be a Trunp supporter per his social media.

The media neither supports nor hates the police. The media spins narratives. They will say whatever they need to say to advance the cause of whoever is paying them.
Leftists in general speak against the police as the removal of an independent police and the subsequent replacement with a new security force under their control is a necessary step towards establishing a dictatorship. They're not against the police per se, and will gladly call upon it when the need arises. They're against any and all armed not directly under their control.
Which is why they will support it when they can have it do their bidding as it puts the police temporarily under their control.
