So they waited for the officers to get around the corner just out of harms way... Too many coincidences lately to be that they narrowly escaped danger out of pure luck. So how would they have been watching them? From a building, listening to police scanner or watching them through street cameras? There have to be street cameras in that area. Would the random suspect be capable of this while acting alone?

The officer mentions the building “houses all the hard lines for phones in the south east.” Yeah this was planned for a reason.
