The Obama administration did not prosecute Assange. They didn't even attempt to. So the deflection is a bit disingenuous there. He is being held in the UK FOR the Trump administration. Doesn't get any more clear cut than that.
Why did he enter the Ecuadorian embassy in 2012 then? To hide from Trump 4 years before he was elected?
He was afraid of being prosecuted which is natural, but the Obama admin made no moves against him, unless you can point me to any.
I'd love to be corrected, I hate defending anyone, but I prefer uncomfortable truth to comfortable lies.
You're moving goal posts. You originally said Assange was ONLY in his situation because of the Trump admin. That's clearly incorrect. Assange was going to be extradited to Sweden to face sexual assault charges. He also feared those charges were a step toward extraditing him to the USA to face additional charges there. He had good reason to believe that. His source, Chelsea Manning, had been convicted to a 35-year sentence in prison. Likewise, the Obama administration had been conducting an active, long-term criminal investigation into WikiLeaks as confirmed by court documents. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/mar/05/us-government-still-hunting-wikileaks-obama-targets-whistleblowers https://thehill.com/homenews/news/314139-assange-agrees-to-be-extradited-to-us-if-obama-grants-clemency-for-chelsea
Sure, but they never had him held and set up for extradition. That's on the Trump admin.
